To take responsibility is simply to respond positively to the challenge in front of you, or in front of others who are shying away from the same. That is, it can be a challenge facing only you, or challenge facing a group of people you are involved with, with nobody willing to take the first step.
You are either of two things in this world not both, you are either Responsible(one who takes responsibility) or Inresponsible(one who refuses to take responsibility or always dragged to take one). Oh you can't be both! You are either active or reactive.
Here is the thing, taking responsibility is a choice; a mental one, and like all mental choices, you have to prepare for it at all times. You will never get used to it; it is a decision you will have to make every
time. The decision making can become faster each time but it will never be easy, neither will be the task.
Here is something I heard from my spiritual father Dr. Paul Enenche, he said, Bishop David Oyedepo was asked by one of the students in his pionnered university during a session with a group. He was asked,"sir how do you stay awake every night to accomplish the needful?" The student went on to say that, "we take coffee, we deep our feet in ice and so on; sir how?" "I only TAKE RESPONSIBILITY", he said.
I only take responsibility! To take responsibility is only what is required most time to get any job done. An ability to respond positively and on time to that challenge. I always use the word "challenge" because problems are mere occations that come our way to challenge us to a greater height.
You must learn to challenge every challenge head on; it will require doggedness and relentlessness on your path.
It is said, "when the going gets tough the tough gets going", but I say, "When a challenge becomes bare, take Responsibility".
